We are looking for up to 4 trustees to join us this year. We recognise that having a diverse board representing a range of perspectives, skills and experiences will best enable us to be an effective organisation and would encourage anyone enthusiastic about our areas of activity to consider applying, including those with personal experience of human rights abuses or the prison system. We support valuable work which makes a real difference to people’s lives.

Trustees share responsibility for governing the charity and directing how it is managed and run. You will help the Trust effectively distribute its limited resources to charities operating in the UK and have an enthusiasm for our areas of interest (human rights / prison reform). We are looking for people who have good strategic thinking skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work effectively as a member of a small friendly team. We welcome knowledge and skills gained from across the private, public or charity sector, or through lived experience. You do not need to have previous experience of being a trustee as a full induction into the role will be provided.

As part of this recruitment round we are looking for one of the four candidates to be someone with financial qualifications and experience to join us and take over from our retiring Treasurer. The Treasurer plays a central role in overseeing the Trust’s financial affairs, alongside the other Trustees, and works closely with the staff team who undertake the day-to-day work and an Investment Lead Trustee who oversees our Investment portfolio. We are also particularly keen to hear from people with experience of working for progressive social change, e.g. through the political system, policy or advocacy work, campaigning, or grant-making.

Please note, the closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 25th April 2022.
