The Keith Bromley Awards
In 2004 the Bromley Trust set up three awards in memory of the settlor, Toby Bromley. In the last decade Toby Bromley had been particularly concerned with the plight of prisoners in overcrowded prisons and the endless waste of public resources spent building more and more prisons. He understood the cycle of re-offending and saw the value of supporting offenders to learn a trade that would enable them to gain employment after release.
As a result the Bromley Trust chose three awards in the area of prison reform. These were:
- The Butler Trust
- The Bromley Briefings (produced by the Prison Reform Trust)
- The Hardman Trust
The Koestler Trust named an award in memory of Toby, to reflect his long-term friendship and support of the trust. Nature Photography brought together three of his great interests - art, nature, and prisons - and so the Keith Bromley Award for Outstanding Nature Photography was created in his honour.
