Aire Centre

The AIRE Centre provides specialist expertise in international human rights law and in particular in the European Convention on Human Rights and rights under EU law.  The Centre gives advice and information on all aspects of human rights law, and represents individuals before the European Court of Human Rights.

Asylum Aid

Provides specialist legal support for asylum seekers and campaigns for a fair asylum system in the UK. Current projects include a refugee women's resource room and a campaign to improve asylum seekers' access to legal services.
The Bromley Trust grant - £10,000

Bail Circle

The Bail Circle works with and for detained asylum seekers , their friends and families,   to obtain immigration bail and/or signpost them  to good quality legal representation and other advice. Bail assistance is given with the help of a network of ‘sureties’; volunteers willing to take a modest financial risk to free such a detainee.

Detention Advice Service

Provides free, independent information, advice and support to foreign national prisoners detained or threatened with Immigration Act detention in UK prisons and detention centres. Often caught up in multinational bureaucracy and held indefinitely without charge or trial.

English Pen

English PEN supports writers who have been imprisoned or whose human rights have been abused on account of their writing. By building relationships between English writers and their international colleagues, PEN lobbies effectively and sensitively to defend and extend the universal right to freedom of expression.

Human Rights Indonesia
Promotes human rights, peace and democracy in Indonesia especially in the conflict areas of Aceh and West Papua. Seeks to address the root causes of human rights problems and to make a difference by facilitating and encouraging change.

Sudan Organisation Against Torture (SOAT)

SOAT works to prevent torture, challenge impunity and promote a culture of respect for human rights in Sudan. SOAT provides direct medical treatment and legal aid services to survivors and individuals at risk and campaigns to highlight human rights violations on a national and international level.

Survivors Fund (SURF)

SURF works through survivor led partner organisations in Rwanda to help survivors rebuild their lives after genocide. Partners holistically address the complex needs of survivors through a variety of programmes including rights and advocacy, shelter, medical assistance, income generation and education and training.

Writers and Scholars Educational Trust

Campaigns for the right of freedom of expression through which all other rights and freedoms are secured. Maintains a constant vigilance to ensure that freedom of expression is continually promoted and perpetuated by compiling factual information and publishing examples of banned literature, first-hand view points and analyses of aspects of censorship.
