At the heart of the Ashden Awards is an annual competition to identify and reward organisations which have carried out truly excellent, practical, yet innovative schemes, demonstrating sustainable energy in action at a local level. Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust

An international conservation organisation working
to save some of the world's most endangered species,
working in close consultation with communities in wildlife
areas and providing direct support for projects, to
implement conservation actions. Durrell Wildlife's
International Training Centre provides further education
to conservation practitioners from throughout the world
in courses such as the Diploma in Endangered Species
Management.

Environmental Justice Foundation

World Pheasant Association

WPA works to ensure the long-term survival of the 300
or so species of gamebird (scientifically termed the
Galliformes) that occur throughout all habitats in
the world. The group is highly threatened because its
species are widely hunted for a variety of reasons.
As the loss of these species would have serious repercussions
for the livelihoods and traditions of many rural communities,
WPA seeks to develop solutions with local communities
that balance conservation benefits with their own long-term
needs.
